With Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine coming to the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France, there were a couple of drivers’ announcements preceding the weekend. First, G4's Belén García (SPA) is set to be back once more after a two-race contract. The Spanish women is set to compete in the W Series (Formula 3 championship made of women only) this year.
She had agreed such a short contract with G4 in order to get prepared for her racing season in the W Series. Now – thanks to some changes in the W Series’ calendar – she and G4 agreed to race yet again together at Paul Ricard this weekend.

This is what she had to say on her comeback: “I am so happy to be back in this championship and to be able to race once more before the start of the W Series, because after the two meetings of Barcelona I still feel like I am missing that point to make a step and to improve all round to be prepared for the W Series’ season”.
The second announcement is then regarding JD Motorsport and the Russian Michael Belov. He had made a few appearances both in Formula Renault Eurocup and in FIA Formula 3 last year and now he is making his season debut in FRECA, as the third driver for the Italian team.

This French weekend does look like a nice one indeed, with the two French drivers racing at home this weekend – R-ace’s Isack Hadjar & Hadrien David – both putting on a good start to the season. They are respectively P3 and P6 in the standings, with Hadjar achieving one win in Monaco and David achieving two podiums up until now.
Then - as we already saw in Euroformula Open - Formula 3 cars are able to put on a better show compared to Formula 1, in which overtakes are made too easy by the usage of the DRS (Drag-Reduction System). In Euroformula Open instead, we saw more chances for the drivers to fight and defend their places, which created a much longer-lasting spectacle.
