The Euroformula Open carried out two private testing sessions on Thursday before starting is second meeting of its calendar at Le Castellet, France. Motopark’s Cameron Das (USA) - the winner of each one of the first three races – dominated again in the testing session. He was the only driver able to go below the 1:54. The laptimes from testing are reported below.

Just 10 were the drivers present for testing. Andreas Estner (GER) had a one race agreement with Van Amersfoort and will not continue with them for the rest of the season. Motopark’s Jak Crawford (USA) & Van Amersfoort Rafael Villagómez (MEX) were both taking part at a FIA Formula 3 test at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. They managed anyway to get in France on time for Free Practice.
In FP1 it was not that much easy for Das: 24 thousandths of a second separated him at the lead from Cryptotower’s Louis Foster (GBR). Lap times did not improve significantly then in Practice 2 with this time another American – Jak Crawford – taking the lead. This weekend is also the first time in which Crawford he is able to compete for a full weekend. He had an issue with the age limitation system at Portimão: a driver cannot take part in Euroformula Open if he is less than 16 years old and Crawford turned 16 just on the Sunday of the race weekend. Due to this he was forced to miss all the action from Friday and Saturday. The laptimes from the two sessions are reported below.

Here there are today’s words from the championship leader, Das: “Yesterday we had some balance issues with the car, and we were basically trying to just work them out today,” said Das. “We kind of went too far in the other direction in free practice one, and now we’ve been doing race runs and that kind of thing. The wind was quite strong down the straight. Not as bad as yesterday, but still it’s like sometimes in corners you wouldn’t expect it like turns 7 and 10 you get the big gusts. Everyone’s been talking about it.”
